A few words from a friend and fellow collector:
Hi, I'm Wolf in the United Kingdom (UK). I have hundreds of books and thousands of periodicals, mostly in English, and mostly from Great Britain, which I would like to exchange for books and magazines in other languages. Exchanges are preferred, but purchase or sale is fine.
Please contact me at Wolf Klewe with a list of your spares, or to get a list of mine. Thanks!!
If you'd like to place a club order for several people at once, just let me know. You'll save on shipping plus I usually offer some sort of club discount. Just ask!!
NOTICE of USPS rate increase: Starting May 12th 2008, my new media mail rates will be $3.20 for the first pound and 35 cents for each pound after that. My rates include 79 cents on the total order (not per item) to cover the cost of delivery confirmation and all packing and printing supplies. Toner cartridges are nearly $100 each and new cartons now cost about 70 cents.
I don't think international rates are affected, but I'll post those here as soon as I get them. Thanks!
February 1st 2008 --- the list was just revised to reflect items already sold - a LOT of books - thanks! And there will be more. Looks like there will be MANY February additions. More coming in any case so stay tuned!
September 16th --- The lists are all accurate and up to date as of this morning. I did get some additional books in here this week, but I will be taking vacation time towards the end of the month, and I did not want to list new inventory if I can't be here to ship for you.
I expect a few more cartons sometime this week as well, and I'll get these and the previous load all ready to list when I return here in mid-October. If you're desperate for a particular title, please ask, and if I have received it I'll go ahead and get it shipped to you. I can also send you a list of what's been received - I just don't want to be in full-business mode and have nine parcels to ship while I am packing for the Amazon jungles.
I wish.... In the meanwhile, please remember to:
Please take a look through the five alphabetic author pages. There's over 2000 books listed there and it's my job to find a good home for every one of these. I will post more new inventory when it is received and when I have shelf space. Remember that I offer shipping in bulk, and there's always stuff here in the corners, so if you need something not shown, just ask. Thanks and enjoy!!
May 14th --- All lists were updated this morning. Many titles are being cleared out via auction, so I apologize if your request cannot be filled. My goal here is a more portable inventory by the fall. I plan to continue to stock the in-demand items.
IMPORTANT! --- Effective May 14th the USPS will no longer ship international mail by economy letter post, parcel post, or M-bag. All non-USA mail will ship by air letter, air parcel, or air M-bag. While M-bag service will remain the most economical way to ship books in bulk, please be prepared for significantly higher shipping charges.
I'll post exact rates as I determine them for each group of countries. This rate change affects ALL booksellers in the USA and affects shipping to ALL countries.
March 26th --- If you happen to have (or know about) a large number of duplicate boards available for sale, please contact me. I can use plastic or aluminum, with or without cards (but then I'd also need the cards), and cases, perhaps up to 200 boards total. - Thanks!
February 27th --- Please tell your friends and bridge partners about this website; continued sales help assure our continued operations. You could even tell your bridge opponents about us - just stay one book ahead of them ;-) Your support of the ACBL Library and my website is greatly appreciated - Thanks!
The American Contract Bridge League (ACBL) has arranged to sell some of their extra books through this website. Net proceeds will benefit the ACBL library. Some other parties also have books for sale here, and part of the proceeds of these books will also be donated to the ACBL.
How To Order
Please send an email message that details, by inventory number, the item(s) you wish to purchase, to ACBL@CarlRitner.Com - while all I really need is the inventory number, the complete item listing is helpful to include - that way I can find substitutes for you. I usually reply within 24 hours.
Since a number of used book titles are unique, there is a chance the item has already been requested. I make every reasonable attempt to keep this list current, but I cannot guarantee your request until I confirm it by email.
How to Pay / Shipping
I accept cash, money orders and personal checks by mail, and I also accept all major credit and debit cards through PayPal. If you are not a member of PayPal, you should consider using this electronic payment service - it is free to send funds (I pay the fees for these transactions). See Pay Pal for details. Note the PayPal email for payment is carl@carlritner.com ~ the acbl@ is for orders only.
Unless you tell me otherwise, I ship books by USPS media mail rate, or USPS surface mail internationally. I will ship almost anywhere in the world. Large overseas orders (~ 9 Lbs+) are sent via USPS Mbag which is the least expensive. I will ship using any method/service you request if it is available.
Questions and Comments
Generally, items are not returnable unless they are materially mis-represented. While I do make mistakes in inventory, I will inspect each item as it is packed, and I will advise beforehand if there is a discrepancy. I cannot be responsible for lost or damaged mail, but I will furnish any extra mail service (insurance, tracking, etc) you request at cost. All prices are given in US dollars.
I can be reached at Carl@CarlRitner.Com but I appreciate all book related correspondence to be sent through ACBL@CarlRitner.Com - thanks and I hope you find what you are looking for!
